The term 'Japanware' is used to describe objects which have been finished and decorated in a particular way. A 'Japan' finish can be created on lots of different materials. 'Japanning' means the finished, decorative surface and not the article itself.

Appreciation Society


The Japanware Appreciation Society aims to bring together a network of people interested in the history and decorative style of Japanware.

The Society will periodically send out newsletters or information of interest to members, plus invitations to attend events such as talks and workshops.

Membership is free.
